Hanhineva lab will present recent results in Metabolomics 2023

Hanhineva lab will be well represented in Metabolomics 2023 oral and poster sessions. On Monday June 19 at 4:30 pm, two of our team members will give oral presentations. In session Diet and Nutrition, postdoc Topi Meuronen will present some fresh results on the effects of plant-based proteins on serum metabolites (The effect of the 12 weeks replacement of animal-based proteins with plant ones on serum metabolite profiles in healthy adults). In session Metabolite Annotation and Identification, postdoc Ville Koistinen will give a speech about harmonising metabolite nomenclature (Towards a Rosetta stone for metabolomics: recommendations to overcome inconsistent metabolite nomenclature). Both Topi and Ville were granted Metabolomics Society early-career travel awards. The whole schedule for oral presentations can be found here.

Two of our PhD students, Hany Ahmed and Retu Haikonen, will have poster presentations in sessions 3 and 4 (Wed 5.15-6.45 pm, Thu 9.30-10.30 am). Hany will present his poster Plasma metabolic profiling shows reversible changes in metabolites linked to psychological traits: A metabolomics study of the effects of alcohol withdrawal in patients with alcohol use disorder (paper no 1077) under the theme Mental Health, Drug Addiction and Medicinal Cannabis, and Retu will present his poster Whole-grain-rich diet improves energy metabolism efficiency in heart chambers (paper no 1137) under the theme Metabolomics in Health and Disease.
